Direct-fit outer right rocker panel engineered for 1964-1970 Ford Mustang models to replace corroded or damaged rockers and restore body strength. Built from heavy-gauge steel and formed to OE contours, this panel re-establishes proper door and sill alignment while protecting the lower body from future rust and road damage. Designed for restoration and replacement projects, it provides durable, long-lasting support when properly welded, sealed, and finished.
Features:
- Fitment: 1964-1970 Ford Mustang (all body styles: coupe, fastback, convertible).
- Constructed from heavy-gauge steel for structural strength and long-term durability.
- OE-style contours and mounting points restore door alignment and sill fitment.
- Replaces rusted or damaged outer rocker to protect the vehicle’s lower body.
- Pre-formed panel simplifies fitment and reduces fabrication time for restorations.
- Designed for welding installation; finish with seam sealer, primer, and paint to prevent corrosion.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 4/5
- Estimated time: 2-6 hours (varies by experience and extent of corrosion)
Instructions:
- Prepare the vehicle: disconnect battery, lift and support the car securely, and remove trim, threshold, and any components blocking access to the rocker.
- Assess damage and mark cut lines on the existing outer rocker; locate and remove spot welds with a spot-weld cutter or drill.
- Cut and remove the damaged rocker section, taking care not to damage the inner rocker or pinch seam; clean mating surfaces of rust, paint, and contaminants.
- Treat exposed metal with rust inhibitor and apply weld-through primer to mating areas.
- Test-fit the replacement panel, aligning factory reference points and ensuring proper gap and contour; trim the panel as needed for precise fit.
- Clamp the panel in place and tack weld at multiple points to maintain alignment; complete with stitch or plug welds following factory weld spacing to minimize distortion.
- Grind welds smooth, check fitment of adjacent panels and door operation, and use hammer/dolly to correct any contours if necessary.
- Apply seam sealer to all joints, prime welded areas with body primer, and finish with paint to match the vehicle; reattach trim and threshold components.
- Perform a final inspection for secure fit, proper gaps, and corrosion protection.
