Instructions:
- Disconnect battery and remove the door from the vehicle for easier access and safer work.
- Remove interior door trim, glass (if necessary), latch/handle hardware and any clips fastened to the outer skin.
- Locate and mark all spot welds securing the old outer skin; use a spot-weld cutter or drill to separate the skin from the door shell.
- Carefully remove the old skin, preserving as much of the inner structure as possible; clean and prep the mating surfaces by grinding away rust and old weld material.
- Test-fit the new outer skin and check alignment with door edges, hinges and latch striker; make any necessary trimming or adjustment for perfect fit.
- Clamp the new skin in place and perform tack welds or plug welds along original weld locations to secure the panel. Continue with full welds as appropriate for structural integrity.
- Grind welds smooth, dress seams with hammer and dolly as needed, and apply body filler to achieve a smooth surface.
- Apply seam sealer to all welded joints, prime the repaired area, and finish with paint to match vehicle color.
- Reinstall door hardware, glass and interior trim, remount the door to the vehicle, and verify fitment, operation and weatherseal integrity.
