Front upper ball joint (right or left) designed for 1964–1977 Ford and Mercury passenger cars and light trucks. This three-hole mount ball joint secures the upper control arm to the steering knuckle, maintaining proper suspension geometry and steering response. Built for durability and reliable function, it replaces worn factory units to restore precise steering, reduce play, and prevent premature tire wear. The part is designed for direct-fit replacement to simplify restoration or routine suspension maintenance.
Features:
  • Fits 1964–1977 Ford and Mercury front upper suspension (right or left hand) with 3 mounting holes
  • Stamped/hardened ball stud and race for long service life and consistent steering feel
  • Integral dust boot and greaseable design to protect internals and extend component life
  • Direct-fit replacement for restoring factory suspension geometry and reducing play
  • Durable finish resists corrosion; designed for easy installation during restoration or maintenance
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30-60 minutes per side
Suggested Tools:
  • jack and jack stands
  • lug wrench
  • socket and ratchet set
  • wrenches
  • ball joint separator or pickle fork
  • torque wrench
  • hammer
  • needle-nose pliers
  • grease gun (if greaseable)
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level surface, set parking brake, loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
  2. Raise front of vehicle with jack and support securely on jack stands. Remove the wheel.
  3. Locate the upper ball joint on the control arm. Remove any cotter pin and loosen the castle nut securing the ball stud to the steering knuckle.
  4. Use a ball joint separator or pickle fork to separate the ball stud from the knuckle. A few taps with a hammer may be needed.
  5. Unbolt the three mounting bolts that attach the ball joint to the control arm and remove the old ball joint.
  6. Clean the mounting surface on the control arm to remove dirt, rust, and old gasket material.
  7. Position the new ball joint in place and install the three mounting bolts. Tighten bolts to the manufacturer-specified torque.
  8. Insert the ball stud into the steering knuckle, install the castle nut, and torque to specification. Install a new cotter pin if required.
  9. If the ball joint is greaseable, apply grease via the zerk fitting until boot is slightly distended. Ensure the dust boot is seated properly.
  10. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to specification. Test drive and recheck fastener torque after initial mileage.
