Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a flat surface, set parking brake, and disconnect the battery.
- Remove the steering wheel or access cover as needed to reach the steering column coupling and upper shaft.
- Mark the current alignment of the steering shaft and column to preserve timing before disassembly.
- Loosen and remove retaining fasteners or snap rings that secure the worn sleeve or coupling.
- Slide out the old sleeve and inspect adjacent components (bearings, bushings, shafts) for wear; clean mating surfaces.
- Install the new adjusting sleeve in the same orientation as the original, aligning timing marks made earlier.
- Reinstall retaining hardware and torque fasteners to factory specifications.
- Reassemble the steering wheel or column covers, reconnect the battery, and verify steering alignment and free play.
- Test drive at low speed to confirm smooth operation and make minor alignment adjustments if necessary.
