Inner tie rod end designed for 1995–2002 Ford and Mercury vehicles (including Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, and Town Car). This inner right/left hand tie rod end secures the steering linkage to the rack, transmitting steering input while maintaining alignment and minimizing play. Built for durability and dependable steering response, it helps restore precise handling, reduce vibration, and prevent premature tire wear. Engineered for a straightforward replacement, it provides a reliable solution for steering system maintenance and restoration.
Features:
- Fitment: 1995–2002 Ford and Mercury models (e.g., Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, Town Car) — inner tie rod end, right and left hand available.
- Constructed from hardened steel and corrosion-resistant finishes for long service life.
- Secures the steering rack to the steering linkage to maintain alignment and steering precision.
- Reduces steering play and vibration for improved control and tire wear prevention.
- Direct-replacement design for straightforward installation and restoration projects.
- Pre-greased or greaseable design (model dependent) for easier maintenance and extended durability.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 45-90 minutes per side
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, engage parking brake, and loosen wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise the vehicle with a jack and support securely on jack stands; remove the wheel.
- Locate the inner tie rod and inspect the outer tie rod and boot. Apply penetrating oil to fasteners as needed.
- Loosen and back off the outer tie rod jam nut and disconnect the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle (if required for access).
- Remove the clamp(s) holding the inner tie rod boot and slide the boot back to expose the inner tie rod connection.
- Use a tie rod/end puller or appropriate tool to separate the inner tie rod from the steering rack or center link; remove the inner tie rod by unthreading it from the rack.
- Compare the new part to the old one to confirm fitment. Install the new inner tie rod by threading it onto the rack to the specified engagement length.
- Torque the inner tie rod nut to the vehicle manufacturer’s specification and re-install or replace boot clamps to secure the boot.
- Reattach the outer tie rod and torque the jam nut to spec. Reinstall the wheel and lower the vehicle.
- Tighten lug nuts to the proper torque. Because steering geometry may change after replacement, have a professional wheel alignment performed before driving extensively.
