Replacement front left fender apron for 1967-1968 Ford Mustang and Mercury Cougar designed to restore structural alignment and protect the inner fender area. This reproduction apron reinforces the front wheelhouse, secures adjacent panels, and helps maintain proper fender gap and mounting points during a restoration or collision repair. Constructed for durability and ease of fit, it offers a reliable solution to rusted or damaged original aprons and simplifies reassembly of front-end components.
Features:
  • Fits 1967-1968 Ford Mustang and 1967-1968 Mercury Cougar — front left (driver side) fender apron
  • Stamped steel construction for strength and long-term durability
  • Restores mounting points and panel alignment to factory specifications
  • Protects inner fender and wheelhouse from road debris and moisture
  • Designed for straightforward replacement in restoration or repair projects
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 2-4 hours (typical, depending on corrosion & repair method)
Suggested Tools:
  • Socket set & wrenches
  • Flat and Phillips screwdrivers
  • Drill with spot-weld cutter or drill bits
  • Angle grinder or cutoff wheel
  • MIG or TIG welder (or rivet gun/adhesive if not welding)
  • Clamps and alignment tools
  • Rust inhibitor/primer, seam sealer, paint
  • Safety gear (gloves, eye protection, respirator)
Instructions:
  1. Prep vehicle: disconnect battery, raise vehicle safely, and remove the front wheel and fender if necessary to access apron area.
  2. Disconnect and remove any attached components (trim, inner splash shields, wiring, brake lines, or braces) that interfere with apron removal.
  3. Inspect and mark the original apron attachment points. Drill out spot welds or remove fasteners; cut away severely corroded metal as required.
  4. Clean and prep mating surfaces: remove rust, scale, and paint to expose solid metal for welding or bonding.
  5. Test-fit the new apron and check alignment with surrounding panels and mounting points. Use clamps to hold it in place and adjust as needed.
  6. Attach the apron: weld along factory seams where feasible for a solid repair. If welding is not an option, use rivets and automotive adhesive per the vehicle’s restoration practices.
  7. Seal seams and joints with seam sealer to prevent moisture intrusion. Apply rust inhibitor and primer to bare metal areas, then finish with corrosion-resistant paint.
  8. Reinstall any removed components, reattach fender and trim, torque fasteners to specifications, and lower the vehicle. Verify panel gaps and alignment, and perform any final adjustments.
