Front lower ball joint designed for 1989–1998 Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles. This replacement ball joint secures the lower control arm to the steering knuckle, providing reliable pivoting motion for the suspension while maintaining proper wheel alignment. Built for durability and consistent performance, it restores steering precision, reduces play and vibration, and helps prevent uneven tire wear. Ideal for restoration or routine suspension maintenance, this part offers a straightforward replacement for worn or damaged original equipment components.

  • Fits 1989–1998 Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles (front lower, left or right side).
  • Engineered to secure the lower control arm to the steering knuckle and maintain proper suspension geometry.
  • Durable metal construction with corrosion-resistant coatings for long service life.
  • Reduces steering play and vibration to improve handling and tire wear.
  • Direct-fit replacement for restoring factory steering feel and alignment.
  • Easy-to-install design compatible with common suspension service procedures.

Instructions:
  1. Park on a level surface, engage parking brake and loosen wheel lug nuts slightly.

  3. Apply penetrating oil to ball joint fasteners and allow to soak if corroded.
  4. Remove the cotter pin and castle nut from the ball joint stud (if equipped).
  5. Separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or press. If necessary, remove control arm bolts to gain access.
  6. Unbolt the ball joint from the control arm (or press out the ball joint depending on vehicle style).
  7. Compare the new ball joint to the old one to confirm correct orientation and fit.
  8. Install the new ball joint into the control arm and secure fasteners to the manufacturer’s torque specifications.
  9. Reattach the ball joint stud to the steering knuckle and tighten the castle nut to spec; insert a new cotter pin if required.
  10. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to specification.
  11. Have the vehicle’s alignment checked and adjusted as needed after installation to ensure proper tire wear and handling.
