Outer tie rod end (right/left hand) designed for 2005-2014 Ford Mustang models. This steering component connects the steering rack to the wheel spindle, translating steering input into wheel movement while maintaining alignment and safe vehicle handling. Built to restore proper steering response and reduce play, it helps prevent uneven tire wear and improves driving stability. Durable construction and a sealed design resist contaminants and extend service life, making it an ideal replacement for worn or damaged outer tie rod ends during routine maintenance or restoration projects.
Features:
- Fits 2005-2014 Ford Mustang (outer tie rod end, right or left hand application).
- Precision-threaded stud ensures correct steering geometry and alignment retention.
- Robust steel construction with corrosion-resistant finish for long-lasting durability.
- Sealed ball joint design protects against dirt and moisture to extend service life.
- Direct-fit replacement for restoring steering responsiveness and reducing play.
- Easy-to-install with common hand tools; suitable for routine maintenance or full restoration.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 45-90 minutes per side
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake, and place wheel chocks behind rear wheels.
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, lift the front with a jack, and securely support with jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
- Locate the outer tie rod end at the steering knuckle. Mark the position of the old tie rod on the inner tie rod or count the number of exposed threads to preserve alignment.
- Loosen the jam nut on the inner tie rod. Remove the cotter pin (if equipped) and loosen the castle nut or tie rod end nut on the steering knuckle.
- Use a tie rod end puller or pickle fork to separate the tie rod end stud from the steering knuckle. Avoid excessive hammering to prevent damage.
- Unscrew the outer tie rod end from the inner tie rod the same number of turns as removed or to the marked position to maintain approximate toe alignment.
- Thread the new outer tie rod end onto the inner tie rod to the marked position. Tighten the jam nut against the tie rod end.
- Insert the tie rod end stud into the steering knuckle, install the nut and torque to manufacturer specifications. Install a new cotter pin if required.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to specification.
- Have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation to ensure correct toe settings and prevent uneven tire wear.
