Front lower control arm (RH/LH) engineered for 1961–1966 Ford and Mercury passenger cars. This control arm secures the lower portion of the front suspension, locates the wheel hub, and maintains proper wheel alignment and handling geometry. Designed as a direct-fit replacement to restore factory suspension geometry, it improves steering stability, reduces uneven tire wear, and helps eliminate play or vibration caused by worn or damaged originals. Built for durability and corrosion resistance, it provides a reliable, long-lasting solution for restoration or routine maintenance with straightforward bolt-on installation.
Features:
- Fits 1961–1966 Ford and Mercury models (front lower control arm, right and left hand applications).
- Heavy-duty stamped steel construction for strength and load-bearing reliability.
- Corrosion-resistant coating helps protect against rust and extends service life.
- Restores factory suspension geometry to reduce tire wear and improve handling.
- Bolt-on design simplifies replacement during restoration or maintenance projects.
- Built to resist vibration and play, improving steering responsiveness and ride quality.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 1–2 hours per side
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, set the parking brake, and chock rear wheels.
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, then raise the vehicle with a floor jack and support on jack stands. Remove the wheel.
- Apply penetrating oil to the control arm mounting bolts and ball joint nut; allow time to penetrate.
- Support the lower control arm with a jack or pry bar to relieve load on the ball joint.
- Remove the nut securing the lower ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a ball joint separator or pickle fork to free the ball joint from the knuckle.
- Unbolt the control arm mounting bolts at the frame/crossmember and remove any retaining brackets or hardware.
- Remove the old control arm and inspect surrounding components (bushings, ball joint, knuckle, bolts) for wear; replace as needed.
- Install the new control arm in position and loosely install mounting bolts and nuts to hold it in place.
- Reconnect the ball joint to the steering knuckle and install the ball joint nut; snug but do not fully torque until vehicle is at ride height (if specified by manufacturer).
- Tighten all control arm mounting bolts to the specified torque values from a factory service manual.
- If required, torque the ball joint nut to specification with the vehicle at normal ride height or follow the torque sequence recommended by the service manual.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, then torque wheel lug nuts to spec.
- Have a professional alignment performed after installation to ensure correct toe, camber, and caster settings.
