Instructions:
- Park on a level surface, engage parking brake, and loosen the wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise the vehicle with a floor jack and support securely on jack stands. Remove the wheel.
- Mark the relationship between the inner/adjusting sleeve and the old outer tie rod end (count turns or mark position) to preserve toe setting.
- Loosen the tie rod end locknut against the adjusting sleeve, then unthread the outer tie rod end several turns to free it from the sleeve.
- Separate the tie rod end stud from the steering knuckle using a tie rod puller or a pickle fork; avoid striking the stud directly if possible to prevent damage.
- Fully remove the old outer tie rod end and compare length/threads with the new part to ensure correct orientation (right-hand or left-hand).
- Thread the new outer tie rod end onto the adjusting sleeve to the previously marked position (or match thread count) and tighten the locknut to hold it in place.
- Insert the stud into the steering knuckle, secure with the supplied castle nut, and torque to vehicle specifications. Install a new cotter pin if applicable.
- Grease the new tie rod end if it has a grease fitting; wipe away excess grease and inspect the protective boot for a proper seal.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the wheel lug nuts to spec.
- Because toe can be affected by tie rod replacement, have a professional wheel alignment performed immediately after installation.
