Front right/left sway bar link designed for 1989–1992 Ford and Mercury vehicles. This replacement link secures the anti-roll bar to the suspension, restoring proper sway control, reducing body roll, and improving steering response. Constructed from durable metal with corrosion-resistant coating and durable bushings, it delivers reliable, long-lasting performance and is ideal for routine maintenance or restoration projects. Easy to install with common hand tools, it replaces worn or damaged links to return handling characteristics to factory specifications.
Features:
- Fits 1989–1992 Ford and Mercury front suspension (right or left hand sway bar link)
- Heavy-gauge steel construction with corrosion-resistant finish for long life
- Designed to secure the front anti-roll (sway) bar and reduce body roll
- Includes durable rubber/urethane bushings to absorb vibration and prevent metal-on-metal wear
- Direct replacement for worn or damaged factory links — ideal for restoration or maintenance
- Simple bolt-on installation for home mechanics with basic tools
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park on a level surface, engage parking brake and chock rear wheels.
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, then lift the front of the vehicle with a floor jack and support securely on jack stands. Remove the front wheels.
- Locate the front sway bar link connecting the sway bar to the lower control arm or strut assembly.
- Apply penetrating oil to the link mounting nuts and bolts if they appear rusted. Allow time to soak.
- Remove the nuts securing the sway bar link at both ends using the appropriate sockets/wrenches. You may need to hold the stud with a wrench to prevent spinning.
- Remove the old link and any worn bushings or mounting hardware. Compare the new link to the old part to confirm fitment and orientation (right vs left).
- Install the new sway bar link, positioning bushings and washers as required. Thread on the mounting nuts by hand to ensure correct alignment.
- Tighten the mounting nuts to the manufacturer's recommended torque specification using a torque wrench.
- Reinstall the wheels, lower the vehicle, and torque the wheel lug nuts to specification.
- Test drive at low speed to confirm proper handling and that no unusual noises are present. Re-torque hardware after initial drive if desired.
