Front lower ball joint engineered for 1978-1997 Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles to restore steering precision and suspension safety. This grease-port ball joint secures the lower control arm to the steering knuckle, allowing controlled pivoting while carrying vehicle load. A serviceable design improves longevity and keeps suspension components properly lubricated, delivering reliable, vibration-reducing performance and easier future maintenance. Durable construction ensures corrosion resistance and consistent fit for restoration and replacement projects.
Features:
- Fits 1978-1997 Ford, Lincoln and Mercury front lower (right or left) applications.
- Includes grease port for periodic lubrication to extend service life.
- Replaces worn or damaged lower ball joint to restore steering and suspension alignment.
- Durable materials resist corrosion and wear for reliable daily driving.
- Designed for direct-fit replacement during restoration or routine maintenance.
- Helps reduce vibration and uneven tire wear when installed correctly.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 45-90 minutes per side
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake, and loosen lug nuts slightly.
- Raise front of vehicle with a jack and secure on jack stands; remove the wheel.
- Apply penetrating oil to mounting fasteners and allow to soak if rusted.
- Remove the cotter pin and nut from the tie rod end and separate the tie rod from the steering knuckle if necessary to gain access.
- Disconnect any sway bar links or brake line brackets attached to the control arm as needed.
- Support the lower control arm and remove the control arm-to-frame bolts if required to relieve tension.
- Use a ball joint press or removal tool to press out the old ball joint from the control arm or knuckle.
- Clean the mounting surfaces and install the new ball joint, pressing it into place per the tool and vehicle manufacturer's instructions.
- Install and torque the castle nut to the specified value for your vehicle, insert a new cotter pin if applicable.
